Frequently Asked Questions
Are shaggy rugs easy to clean?
Yes — the Lune Shaggy's 100% polyester construction makes it resistant to staining and simple to maintain. For everyday care, a regular vacuum on a low setting keeps the pile looking fresh. For a full step-by-step guide, see our How to Clean Rugs at Home.
Is a shaggy rug suitable for a living room?
Absolutely. The Lune Shaggy is power loomed for durability and rated for medium to high-traffic areas, making it an excellent choice for living rooms. The 40mm pile adds warmth and texture without being impractical for everyday use. See our How to Style Shaggy & Fluffy Rugs for room-by-room inspiration.
Is polyester a good material for a shaggy rug?
Polyester is one of the best materials for shaggy rugs — it's soft, non-shedding, moisture-resistant, and holds colour well over time. Unlike wool shaggy rugs, polyester won't shed or pill, making it a low-maintenance choice for busy households. Learn more in our Best Rug Materials Guide.
What size rug do I need for my living room?
As a guide: a 160x230cm rug suits most standard living room sofa settings (all legs on or front legs on the rug), while a 200x290cm works for larger open-plan spaces. For bedrooms, a 120x170cm or 160x230cm placed under the lower two-thirds of the bed creates a beautiful framing effect. For a full breakdown, read Avoid the Big Rug Mistakes.
